The shuffle button,
evolved
Four shuffle modes, with more than fifteen distinct variations across them, running on the music library already on your iPhone.
Four ways to shuffle
Every mode picks songs
a different way
Mode 1
True Random
A genuinely uniform shuffle. No weighting toward what you added last week or what is seen as popular. Every song gets a fair shot.
Mode 2
Artist Pairs
Picks an artist, plays two songs from them, then goes on to a pair from another artist. Whether an artist has 4 songs in your library or 400, they have an equal shot of being played. The pairing gives you a little consistency to go with your randomness.
Mode 3
Unforgettable Hour
A set of songs, picked by a special condition. Unforgettable Hour picks songs once loved but lost to time, passed over by every shuffle you've started since. Fan Hour finds the under-heard songs of your most-listened artists. Each of the other hour modes is similarly tuned to let you see your library from a whole new angle.
Mode 4
Album Roulette
Drops you into an album and plays it in its entirety, with one little catch: skip a song once and you jump out of that album completely and into the next random one.
Entropy FM
Radio DJs can host your music
Turn it on and the hosts Chris (a human) and Alex (a digital voice) pop in between songs once in a while, telling you what's coming up, what your history with a song is, or just generally doing their best to make you feel like you're listening to the radio. Minus the commercials.
Everything played has been vetted and selected by a master curator: you. Because it's your music.
ALEX
That was Believe by Cher
CHRIS
How long since they heard that one?
ALEX
2 years
CHRIS
Wow, did it feel that long?
Nothing is actually broadcast. Entropy FM is all about the vibes.
Find what you forgot
Your library has neglected corners
Even moderately sized libraries have songs that were either never discovered or were once loved but lately haven't been on good terms with the standard shuffle. Entropy's modes go looking. That album you bought in 2023. That song you listened to over and over but forgot about once new stuff rolled in.
The best finds are like a shot of pure nostalgia into your veins — or like buying new songs, minus the buying.
One library, not two
No new library. Just a better shuffle button.
Entropy imports the music library already on your phone and keeps up with it from there. Playlists are read live from Music and never copied. Your plays count back to Music's own numbers, so listening here still counts where you'd expect. Add some new music, re-sync, and nothing is lost.
Nothing is collected
No analytics, no tracking, no account to make. There is nothing to opt out of.
Nothing is sent
Entropy makes no network requests at all. Your library never leaves the phone.
Plays still count
Playback runs through Apple's own music player, so what you hear here counts in Music too.
